Week 1: Challenge Activity - Custom Avatar
The Task
Use objects from around your home to create a custom avatar of yourself. The objects selected should not be random: they must tell a story or mean something to you. There are no other rules and you are encouraged to get visual and have some fun.
Once finished, take a picture of your avatar and post it to the forum. Include a paragraph or two about the objects selected and what they mean to you. You might want to use the avatar as your profile picture.
The Result
This picture reflects some of my interests and essentials.
Books
I love books...I have a huge collection of them, spanning many fields of interest. I thought this was a nice way of showing not only my love for reading and learning, but also some of my other interests...travel, fashion, design, flowers and film. I usually have a lot of books on the go at once.
Plants
I love having lots of plants around the house, and I'm actually quite good at keeping them alive! I also love having flowers in the house - I often come home from work with a new bunch of flowers to brighten up the house.
Crystals
My husband and I have lots of crystals in the house, everywhere you look there's a few crystals. When buying a new crystal I often just choose based on which I naturally gravitate towards. Usually I'll read up on it afterwards and it just happens to be the right crystal I need at that time.
Beads
I sometimes suffer with anxiety and over the past few years have really felt benefits from Transcendental Meditation. I often carry some beads around with me as the tactility of them can be very soothing.
Ring
I got married at the British Embassy in Berlin during Summer 2016. It was a really happy day, with just a couple of friends in attendance.
Soft Toy
I included this as it's occurred to me looking round the house that I may have a mild obsession with buying cute soft toys, especially those that look like food things. I also still have my childhood teddy bears, which would probably be the first thing I'd save if my house was on fire.
Headphones
I'm really into music...I listen to music everyday. No specific genre...just a very eclectic taste. My Spotify playlists sometimes have the most random mixes, from pop and indie, to show tunes and classical. I grew up with a lot of music playing in the house, my parents were always ahead of the times with their tastes. I also studied music from a very early age, learnt to play keyboard and piano (to quite advanced levels). I don't play so much these days, but I certainly can't get by without listening.
Watch
I must admit - I don't wear this that often these days....mainly because I'm fed up of being told that I've not moved enough. But I included it to represent my love of 'the gadget'. My husband often says I'm difficult to buy for, but seriously...buy me something that comes with instructions and I'm very content.
